Martine's Bakery

Knock, Knock, who's there? It's a box of delicious bread and cookies from Martine's Bakery, from Tuckahoe, NY. Yes, that's what I got today, to taste, and review. Martine's, hand crafts all their products on premise, this keeps it fresh, and always in season.

The bakery sent some of there popular babka, in three flavors, some rainbow cookies and some chocolate coconut macaroons.

So dinner is over and the tasting, with the family begins!

First up the chocolate coconut macaroon cookies. The big puffs of coconut macaroons has a chocolate bottom, and just looking at them makes you drool. The taste was amazing and the dark chocolate was the perfect compliment. It was sweet from the chocolate and decadent at the same time. Eating one makes you want to just continue on and finish the entire amount. You can taste the grated coconut through out the bites, and like all the other ingredients, its just the right amount. Martine's gives this cookie a signature taste, as well as a signature texture.

Next up was Martine's rainbow cookies. Rainbow cookies are layers of almond cake, and jam sandwiched in-between layers. The cookies we're very moist, and the jam was outstanding. Rainbow cookies are very common in the Jewish deli as a dessert. But also popular in other cultures. Martine's hit the jackpot with this cookie. The top of the cookie is covered in chocolate with a white chocolate drizzled thru. When you bite into it you can taste the almond flavor and jam in every bite. It is a colorful cookie, that is truly perfect.

Now for the babka, the first flavor is the hazelnut nutella. Before we taste, let me give you a little FYI, just what babka is. Babka is a dense cake, that actually looks like a loaf of bread. It has a sweet yeast dough, that is filled with fudgy chocolate, or cinnamon. When you look at it, it is a beautiful piece of art, just luring you in for a bite.

The hazelnut nutella babka, was a cross between bread and a decadent cake. A truly addictive treat for after dinner dessert. You get a hint of cinnamon, and a perfect amount of the nutella. On top is a buttery cinnamon crumble. You can see the swirls and layers of the nutella through out the cake. It was very, very delicious.

Next was another babka, cinnamon nut. This babka also had swirls, only this time it was with cinnamon and walnuts. And also included raisins. It’s a loaf that could be a ritual with your daily coffee or tea every day. It's a deliciously rich sweet dessert, and with a nice crumb topping as well.

The last loaf to taste was the chocolate babka. This was sweet, buttery, and just out of this world goodness. A swirl that you pull apart and has delectable irresistible layers of yummy' ness. The chocolate babka is a dense cake, that looks like a loaf of bread. Inside the layers is a fudgy chocolate filling. It can be eaten cold, but I warmed it up, and had it with coffee.

Any of these cakes, any of these cookies, from Martine's bakery, will fill you home and belly with delicious goodness. They make a great addition to your table to share with family or friends, but also great as a gift.
