Anthos Foods Product Review

 


Today was amazing, cooking and enjoying products sent to me by, Anthos Premium Greek Foods. Anthos was formed to share wonderful food from Greece and made by its people there.




All the foods are from natural sources, that will balance your health and pleasure. Greece known for its ancient olive trees, its pine and fir trees, and not to forget, its wild aromatic's of herbs and flowers. Anthos, works with local and small farms to promote their handmade products.




Tassos, Jo Fragkou, Ellie, and Devin are the talents that are behind the success of, Anthos Foods, located in Pittsburgh, PA. A tight knit family that has a passion and a dream, of sharing with us, Greek foods. From a idea around the family, to our tables today, we can now experience the taste of authentic Greek products. Anthos, brings you foods such as olives, honey, sweets, and treats, all made locally in Greece.




Anthos Foods, start with good farming in Greece, and they work with suppliers that respect not only the environment, but honor age old Greek traditions. Suppliers, that you are able to read about on the, Anthos Food online store, along with their own amazing story.




Today, I went on my own journey, with my meals, and incorporating and tasting, all the products sent over by, Anthos Foods. A busy day, that left everyone with full belly's and wonderful tastes on their palates.

It all started at the dinner hour, with a nice glass of wine, and nibbling on some breadsticks, sent over by, Anthos Foods, while the other foods were prepared. The first breadstick was the, Tsanos, multiseed bread stick. These bread sticks are so delicious, and they are great for any diet you may be on. They contain no dairy or animal by products. And if you are Greek, they are wonderful for, the Greek Orthodox Fasting. The breadstick is loaded with, a ton of seeds that coat the entire breadstick. Healthy seeds like oat flakes, linseed, sunflower seeds, and sesame seeds. Every bite is crunchy and delicious, and makes a great snack, a added treasure to a cheese board, or a great go to, to hold your hunger pains between meals. All the seeds are a mix of omega 3 richness. And if you want to use them for your favorite dip, they will hold up perfectly. A nice natural snack, that is not only good to eat, but healthy for you. This breadstick from, Anthos Foods, was the winner of the Superior Taste Award, by the Brussels International Taste Institute.







Speaking of dips for the bread sticks, I made one and used the jar of green olive pasta, from, Selia. What it is, is a nice green olive tapenade, made with large, olives that come from the Chalkidiki region of Greece. It has the most zesty and fresh taste, and is very versatile. Greek for a cheese board to spread on some crostini, or use in a dip as I did, or even great for a canapĂ© mix. In this jar, you are getting a all natural food, that is full of rich oleic acid and vitamin E. Made with natural ingredients such as, green olives, green and red bell peppers, herbs, extra virgin olive oil. And for dipping the entire family used one of each bread stick sent over by, Anthos Foods. The first bread stick was the multiseed, I previously told you about. The next bread stick was also from, Tsanos, and was their chia and fennel seed. This chia and fennel seed bread stick, is also rich and healthy, and is a great super food. It has antioxidants, fiber and your omega 3's. Full of fennel seeds and chia, that taste great, and goes well with the, Selia green olive tapenade. The chia and fennel seed bread stick was the, Star winner at the 2019 International Taste Awards. Also for the dip, was another bread stick that was sent over by, Tsanos. And this flavor was extraordinary. The flavor of Quinoa and Rosemary. It has a great crunch and holds up perfectly for dipping. And is made with Quinoa, the Peruvian super seed, that is just like grain. Full of antioxidant flavonoids and minerals. Every bite brings you protein and fiber. And then the breadstick is paired with the fragrant rosemary, that is a staple of the Mediterranean diet. This bread stick is made with,  reek extra virgin olive oil, free of GMOs, sugar, trans fats, artificial colors, and preservatives. And also the, Star winner at the 2019 International Taste Awards.





Also sent over, from Anthos Foods, was some olive oil. A nice extra virgin olive oil from Phileos Sparta. In Greek Phileos means ‘lover of oil’. And after you taste it, you will see why. Not only is it tasteful, but the aroma is amazing. The quality is superb, with olives from the groves of Molaoi, Laconia. And the olives, well they are the famous, Koroeiki and Athinolia varieties, extracted as well as soon as they are harvested. So wonderful is this olive oil that it was the, NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition: 2020 Silver Award Winner, 2017 Gold Award Winner 2018 Quality Silver Award winner at the London IOOC, 2019 Silver Standard of Excellence at the Olympia Health and Nutrition Awards. For the dish, to taste this amazing olive oil, I made a nice tomato, feta and onion salad, that was drizzled all over with the Phileos Sparta olive oil. Every bite you get a nice mild taste, that is also fruity, and with the ingredients of the salad, was heavenly. A wonderful olive oil that is certified kosher, and is no gmo. One taste and you will understand how this olive oil won the awards.





To also have before dinner, I made some fried feta, and coated it in honey sent over from, Anthos Foods. The honey comes from the unspoiled mountain forests of Crete. And the name is, Alfa Thyme, Forest & Wild Herbs Honey. A honey that is a first for me, and I was so eager to taste. It has the most amazing aroma from the herbs and the endemic flora of fir and pine trees. The honey is one hundred percent pure and unprocessed. It is raw, and rich in antioxidant minerals. This honey also won awards such as being the, Winner at the 2019 Great Taste Awards, Gold winner at the 2019 London Honey Awards, Gold winner at the 2018 Olympic Awards.





For a light and refreshing dinner, I just made a cold pasta salad, and used the kalamata olives sent over from, Anthos Foods. A nice salad that also included, tomatoes, feta and cucumbers. And drizzled with the olive oil sent over by, Anthos Foods. Topped also with some fresh basil! It was mouthwatering to say the least. The Greek olives are from, Selia and are whole. The Kalamata region is where the most famous Greek olive varieties come from. They have a exquisite taste, that is intense in every bite. The Kalamata olives had a nice almond shape and the pits very easy to remove. They are smooth, but still hold their firm texture when using them in dish's. There are no preservatives used, and are rich in vitamin E, oleic acids and other antioxidants. Great out of the jar, but wonderful as a additional ingredient in your dish's.





Dessert is what everyone was looking forward to. The first was from the bag of, Tsanos Moustokouloura - Grape Must Cookie bites. With a nice hot cup of tea, these treasures were the perfect start to wind down our evening with. These are grape must cookies, that are distinctly Greet. They are delectable, and made with simple natural ingredients such as, flour, olive oil, spices and must: the thick, unprocessed, freshly crushed grape juice that also contains the skins, stems and seeds of the fruit. They are a super healthy cookie and very yummy. The texture was just perfect, and they were a nice fruity flavor. This cookie bite was a first for me, and so glad, Anthos Foods included them in the box for me to try.





Lastly, I had made some sour cherry almond bars, with another product that, Anthos Foods sent over. I used the jar of sour cherry spoon sweet from Pelion. This is a traditional sweet fruit preserve that is in syrup, and was perfect for my bars. Spoon sweets are preserved fruits or  Glyka Tou Koutaliou. A favorite treat in Greek culture. This fruit preserve is made with the fruit is slightly under ripe, thin put in a syrup of sugar with lemon juice. You get a unique flavor of sweet and sour, with cherries of intense red. The sour cherries are hand picked from the Mount Pelion region, and they are a wonderful guilt free treasure. No fat or gluten, nor dairy is in the jar. It is made with natural grape juice.
