Shepherd's Pie

  



Shepherd's Pie is a classic British dish that is perfect for a cold winter day. It is a hearty and satisfying meal that is made with ground lamb or beef, vegetables, and mashed potatoes.

 

Ingredients:

 

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 pound ground lamb or beef

1 cup beef broth

1/2 cup peas

1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Salt and pepper to taste

3 cups mashed potatoes

Instructions:

 

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened about 5 minutes.1

Add the ground lamb or beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking up the meat with a spoon as it cooks.

Drain off any excess fat.

Stir in the beef broth, peas, and parsley. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the liquid has thickened.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

Spread the mashed potatoes over the meat mixture in a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the mashed potatoes are golden brown.

Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Tips:

 

You can use any type of ground meat you like.

You can add other vegetables to the meat mixture, such as carrots, celery, or corn.

You can also use store-bought mashed potatoes.

This dish can be made ahead of time and reheated.
