Slice O' Country Jams and Pickled product Review

I am so excited to tell you about some products I got today, from Sara Brewer, from the state of Maine. Sarah is the owner of the company, Slice O' Country. She not only makes great pickled products, but Maine made cutting boards as well.

So with all the products she sent over, in the most adorable, ready to give gift box's, I am having a nice brunch with the daughters. All the jars of the pickled products come in a ball mason jar with a red and plaid lid, and two wood spoons and two little cocktail forks, tied in a red plain bow. So adorable.

The first thing I made for my brunch table was sliced pork crostini's with Slick O' Country sweet n sassy salsa. The ingredients for all the products are all natural. For the sweet n sassy salsa, it has chopped zucchini, bell peppers, corn, onion, celery, vinegar, sugar, turmeric, celery seed, mustard, dry pepper. All the veggies are a nice bite size cut, and look so inviting thru the jar. It was a great topping for my pork slice crostini's, adding a nice sweet and sassy taste, just like it's name. The way that the jar comes makes a wonderful hostess gift, just add to your own gift basket, and your ready for gift giving. There is a slight tang from the vinegar, but with all the ingredients that are included, makes for a wonderful salsa. It was great with pork, but I could also see this as a topping for some baked fish.

The next pickled product from Slice O' Country was pickled beets. The ingredient list is all natural greatness, very short as it should be. Just good old fashion pickled beets with beets, vinegar, water, and sugar. Made is small batch's, you can taste and see the time put into these fantastic delights. The color of the pickled beets are so vibrant and the flavor is delectable. Truly has a homemade taste, just like Grandma was in the kitchen. When you taste them, you just get a explosion of a sweet and vinegary brine taste, packed with wonderful flavor. You can eat it out of the jar, in a bowl, or add some boiled eggs to it. They make a great side dish, but also would be good incorporated into a nice salad. But for me, I love them as a side dish.

To have on my brunch table, I also made some ham and cheese pinwheels, and incorporated the Slice O' Country sour pickles. In the jar is small cucumbers, vinegar, spice, turmeric, salt, and pickle crisp. They are so great. They have a nice crisp when you bite into them, and the size fits in the jar perfectly. Even thou they are sour pickles, they are fermented in a perfect brine blend. It's not a deep sour taste, its one that is very irresistible. And in with the other ingredients for my pinwheels, it added a nice crunch. They also are not over salted. You can eat these out of the jar, and they won't last long, but also was great in my pinwheels, or add to some tuna salad, for a refreshing taste and tang.

For the jar of Slick O' Country salted garlic dill pickles, I incorporated them into a nice dip, with a variety of crackers. One word, AMAZING. The ingredients to make this nice mix has cucumbers, vinegar, water, salt, garlic, and dill's. All chopped into nice bite size pieces. Almost resembles a chow chow mix. Now of course you can place the salted garlic dill pickles in a bowl, but as a added ingredient to a dip, it was fantastic. You get the hint of garlic, with the dill pickle tang. It's, tasty, and the pickles have a nice crunch to them. They have a hint of sourness to them, but not over the top. A very classy pickle mixture. Reminds you of a nice childhood pickle mix from the days past.

In another box from Slice O' Country, was the cutest gift box, filled with small jars of jam's, and two wooden spoons with the red plaid bow.

With the blueberry jam I wanted to make sandwich's for my brunch table, so I grilled some brie and blueberry jam panini's. The homemade blueberry jam with the brie cheese, was outrageous. You could really taste the homemade love that went into the jam. The blueberries used are locally gathered and are wild Maine blueberries at that. The jam was great on a grilled cheese sandwich, but you can use it for so many recipes, from just buttered toast, to a ice cream topping.

In the box was another jam, and this was the peach jam. With that I made some more crostini's with Italian bread, garlic cream cheese, and the peach jam on top. When you open the jars of all these jams, the fruit aroma is so inviting. The peach jam had a nice smooth texture, and so easy to spread. With a nice amber color, that looked so elegant on my crostini. These jams are so good, I think the spoons we're so you could really just eat them out of the jars.

A brunch is not a brunch, without some kind of breakfast food. So for the raspberry jam, I made pancakes. The pancakes we're peanut butter flavored. The topping for them was the raspberry jam and bananas. Can I have a Amen. These we're so delicious, and the raspberry jam was the star. You could see all the tiny seeds, in the jam. It's color was so vibrant, and it was such a delicious feature for the top of the pancakes. If you have never made this flavor pancakes with these toppings, you have to. Just so yummy.

Now for the last jar of jam from Slice O' Country, I made crepes, and filled them with the strawberry jam. I only made to and my daughters and I shared them, as we did with the other foods today. The jams made just enough for us to have a nice daughter, mommy brunch. The strawberry jam is out of this world fresh, and delightful. Made with farm fresh berries, you can just taste the love that was put into the process. And with the light crepes, the jam was the star of the dish. All the jams have a nice blend to them, not to thick and not runny at all.

It was just a nice fun day, sharing these products in meals with my daughters.
