Marsh Dog Wild Nutria dog treat Review

 

Today I got a some very unique products in the mail. I knew it had to be something for pets, because my Toretto came running. And I was right.

From the company Marsh Dog! Wild Nutria, dog treats, I received three flavors. These dog treats, are not what you would expect to find in the store, probably not even in your home, just like me, they are a first. These dog treats were introduced in 2019 from Marsh Dog, and are the new generation of wild nutria dog treats. Now as dog owners we can offer our dogs, a healthy alternative and at the same time support science based wetland conservation.

Confused? Let me explain. Avid dog lovers, and a family from Louisiana, got together to come up with a way to remove Nutria from the wetlands, and turn them into a healthy dog treat for pets.

Ok, now for us up North, let me explain some about the Nutria! Nutria is a orange tooth swamp rabbit, that in South America is a delicacy. Smaller then a beaver, they can destroy the wetlands at the rate of one football field every hour. They have a lean clean meat that doesn't have to go to waste, so that's were the treats came in. The fur of the Nutria and the highly nutritious lean meat don't get utilized. So in 2012, a idea came to light using eco sustainable wild nutria in dog treats. Marsh Dog was the first to use Nutria in handmade biscuits and jerky, and the owners of dogs loved the idea, across the country. The nutria meat if you wanted to compare to a common meat would be similar to rabbit, or dark turkey meat. The meat has more protein then your traditional ground beef, and lower then fat in farm raised catfish. And they are not the cutest animal, they look like a big fat rat, but they are not in the rat family at all.

The first treat my Toretto tested was the Marsh Dog Wild Nutria Blueberry, a crunchy dog treat, that he had no problem eating. The blueberry dog treat is made with 85 percent wild nutria, and it must have been good because he wanted more. This certified Louisiana product is made with all natural ingredients, just like all the dog treats from Marsh Dog. It has no soy, corn or wheat in the ingredients. There is no artificial anything in the treats, only lean clean protein. The blueberry ingredient in the treat comes from a natural blueberry flavor.

All the Marsh Dog, wild nutria dog treats can be a tasty snack for your fur baby, or even use it for a training reward.

Also I found that the bag is much heavier then your traditional dog treats, even at 12oz per bag.

What makes wild nutria good as a dog treat, is that these animals consume plants only, so they are considered to be a very healthy meat source. So as a pet owner, you can rest assured that giving your fur baby some of these Marsh Dog, Wild Nutria treats, is actually better for them, then some treats on the market today.

Well as I continue, my fur baby is still smelling up at my desk as I type.

The next Marsh Dog Wild Nutria treat, was the brown rice, sweet potato soft dog treat. These treats are a soft chew, so if you have a smaller fur baby, they would be a great choice. Again the main ingredient is the wild nutria, with some brown rice, sweet potato and other healthy ingredients. Not only is the lean meat from the wild nutria good for your dog, the brown rice is as well. The brown rice is easy for a dog to digest, so if your fur baby has a problem with digestion, this would make a wonderful alternative treat. The size of the soft dog treat can even be broken smaller, for those real tiny fur babies, but my Doberman loved them as well.

The last bag from Marsh Dog Wild Nutria, was the grain free cranberry soft dog treat. Again another great treat for any size dog. Made with wild nutria as the main ingredient, and other great natural ingredients, just to name a few, cranberries, coconut oil, flaxseed, and so many others that are a healthy choice for your pet. If you are worried about having cranberries in the treats, don't be, they are very safe. Just remember every time you treat your dog to one of these Marsh Dog wild nutriatreats, you are helping to remove a nutria and save the wetlands.
