Creamed Potatoes with Gravy

 



 Creamed potatoes with gravy is a classic comfort food dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and only requires a few ingredients.

 

Ingredients:

 

For the potatoes:

1 pound potatoes, peeled and cut into small cubes

1 cup milk

1/4 cup butter

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

Salt and pepper to taste

For the gravy:

1/4 cup butter

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 cups chicken or beef broth

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

 

Cook the potatoes: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the potatoes until tender. Drain well.

Make the creamed potatoes: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Slowly whisk in the milk until smooth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add the potatoes: Add the cooked potatoes to the saucepan and mash until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Make the gravy: In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Slowly whisk in the broth until smooth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Combine the potatoes and gravy: Pour the gravy over the creamed potatoes and stir until combined.

Serve: Serve immediately with your favorite meat dish.

Tips:

 

You can use any type of potato for this recipe.

If you want a thicker gravy, add more flour to the roux.

If you want a thinner gravy, add more broth.

You can also add other ingredients to the creamed potatoes, such as cheese, bacon, or herbs.
