Cut an Onion




Cutting an onion into the same-sized segments when mincing, dicing, or chopping it,  it will cook uniformly and at the same time. Below is a brief instruction on how to chop an onion fast and uniformly. When you chop an onion in one such manner, there's really no time for tears!

Using a sharp knife, cut the top of the onion off. Which end is the highest? It's on the other side of the root end.

 

 

Slice the onion in half lengthwise, from root to tip.

Take off the skin.

Conduct horizontal incisions just short of the root.

 

Perform vertical incisions, stopping just short of the root.

 

Cutting over the top of the onion to chop.

 

Now you've chopped the onions, dice or mince these if desired.

Use Your Instant Pot As a Slow Cooker

 


 

Do you only use your Instant Pot for pressure cooking? If so, you're losing out on one of the multi-functional appliance's finest features: slow cooking! All you need to know about utilizing your Instant Pot as a slow cooker is right here.

 

As You Begin Cooking:

When attempting to utilize an Instant Pot as a slow cooker, there are several things you should be aware of:

Obtain a Glass Lid!

The Instant Pot includes a lid that is meant to produce a tight seal, which is perfect for pressure cooking. In contrast, traditional slow cookers include glass covers that enable steam and moisture to escape as your food cooks.

 

Whereas you can use the slow cooker mode with the regular Instant Pot cover (set to vent), you'll get better outcomes if you use a tempered glass lid with a stainless steel rim - on Amazon.

 

If you've ever used an Instant Pot, you know how crucial liquid (water, broth, etc.) is to effective pressure cooking. While using a slow cooker, make sure there's at minimum a cup of liquid in the recipe. However, because you are not utilizing the pressure cooker feature, there is no need to add extra liquid. Of course, if you're converting an Instant Pot recipe to a slow cooker (or vice versa), your cooking process will need to be adjusted. 

 

Make your meal. Cut, chop, or season the items to the recipe's specifications.

Put the pot's lid on. Remember, a tempered glass lid is preferable for this function, but a normal lid can be used if that's all you have.

Select the Slow Cook option. If you have the 3-quart version, it's under the Steam button on the bottom right side. Decide on a time. With the + and – buttons beneath the clock display, you may adjust the cooking time from 30 minutes to 20 hours. Toggle the Adjust button. On the 3-quart version, it's at the bottom center area, next to Timer and above Manual. You can select "Normal," "More," or "Less." On a conventional Crock-Pot, these equate to medium, high, and low settings.

 

Cook. Processing will begin 10 seconds after the final button is touched. Once your recipe is completed cooking, the Instant Pot will beep and switch to "Keep Warm" mode for 10 hours.




Because the Instant Pot first appeared on the home cooking scene a few years ago, many individuals have abandoned their slow cooker in favor of the multi-functional gadget. You can cook your delicious recipes regardless of whatever setting you use, but the cook time will need to be adjusted.

To adapt a slow cooker recipe for the Instant Pot, follow these steps: Multiply the cook time on the High setting by 60, then divide by 10.

To convert an Instant Pot recipe to a slow cooker, double the cook time in the Instant Pot by 10, then divide by 60.

Cleaning a nasty sheet pan

 


How to clean and keep a filthy sheet pan clean.  To cleanse your sheet pans, use baking soda and vinegar, dryer sheets, or hydrogen peroxide and baking soda.

 

Sheet pans, if you're anything like me, are probably some of your most well-loved and chronically dirty kitchen equipment. No amount of cleaning or soaking appears to remove the burned residue. Sometimes it's necessary to put away the soap and water and search for alternative ways to remove stubborn stains and residue. So, before you throw out those nasty pans, give these cleaning solutions for sheet pans a go.

 

This approach makes use of materials you probably already have in your pantry to help release residue and keep your cookware clean.

Fill a sink halfway with hot water. Mix in an equal amount of baking soda and white vinegar (about half a cup of each).

Submerge your pans in the liquid and soak them for 30 minutes to an hour.

Apply some elbow grease and scrape the pan well with the coarse side of a sponge. To avoid visible scratching, scrub in a circular manner ( some scratching may still occur).

After you've cleaned the pan to your heart's content, give it a good hand wash with soap and water to eliminate the vinegar smell, and dry it quickly to avoid rust.

 

These laundry room essentials work wonderfully on filthy sheet pans.

Allow your sheet pan to sit in the sink or on the counter. Fill the pan halfway with warm water and add one or two dryer sheets and dish soap. Allow it to settle for 2 to 3 hours.

When you emerge, toss the dryer sheets and empty the pan of water. Any caked-on food should be easy to remove using soap, water, and a sponge.

 

Go and get some hydrogen peroxide from your first-aid kit since this approach makes cleaning filthy sheet pans a joy. It should be emphasized that this technique is most likely too aggressive for nonstick sheet pans.

Start by combining baking soda and hydrogen peroxide into a paste.

Leave the mixture to settle for 2 to 3 hours, spread out throughout the surface of the pan.

Effectively remove the paste with a sponge. There should be no need for severe cleaning!

 

Let's keep your pan clean now that it's free of dirt and muck. The simplest method to keep your cookware clean at all times is to cook with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Understand that scratches and stains are evidence that your pans have been used, which isn't always a negative thing.
