Maitland Mountain Farm Products Review

If you love pickles and pickled products, you are going to love learning about the products I received today.

From Maitland Mountain Farm, I got two types of pickles and some giardiniera. Before I tell you what I made with them. Let me tell you a little FYI about the farm.

The Maitland Mountain Farm started in 2009, in MA., and still today is producing some yummy products. At first it was a daughter and father farming project, than came a ambitious cook. Now a family run farm, that makes yummy pickles and pickled products. The products can be found in farmers markets, and many restaurants and in retail stores on the Northern Shore.

Since its cold out side, I decided to take it easy tonight and just make some different types of sandwich's for dinner.

First up was hot sausage's with Maitland Mountain Farm, Peter's Giardiniera. The giardiniera has some of the largest cuts of veggies inside that I have ever seen. You get a little kick of heat from the jalapeno inside, that really complimented the hot sausage. Also inside the jar is: carrot, cauliflower, red pepper, celery, cucumber, onion, Apple cider vinegar, white vinegar, water , pickling spice, garlic, dill, salt. Just pure all natural ingredients. Italians usually use giadiniera in a salad or just serve it as a appetizer. But you can do so much more with it, especially as a tasty condiment. Its great on sandwich's, but also great on some toasted bread for a brochette. If you really want to get creative try it as a ingredient for a cold pasta salad. Right through the jar you can see the huge chunks of veggies that make up Peter's Giardiniera, which really invites you in for a bite! You get a nice crunch still in the veggie mix as well.

Next I decided to try making a sandwich using two pickles as the holder, to sandwich some sliced pickle and lunchmeat, cheese and tomato. It was fantastic. The pickles from Maitland Mountain Farm, that I used was, Jett's Mild Pickles. Through the jar you see these huge pickle halves, and your mouth just starts to water. Even though they are mild there is still some jalapeno in them for a little kick. The rest of the ingredients are: White Vinegar, Apple Cider Vinegar, Salt, Pickling Spice, Chili Flake, Garlic, Dill, Jalapeno, Cucumbers. Fresh all natural ingredients that make for a crisp tasty pickle. You get a kick and a nice garlic taste on your palate. You will enjoy them straight from the jar, but you can also get creative with them, in many recipes.

The last sandwich for dinner was a tuna sandwich on homemade bread. In the tuna when chunks of Holly's Spicy Pickles, from Maitland Mountain Farm. The large pickles in the jar are made with: White Vinegar, Apple Cider Vinegar, Salt, Pickling Spice, Chili Flake, Garlic, Dill, Jalapeno, Cucumbers. The tuna had a nice flavor to it that only came from the spicy pickles. I added a tiny bit of the juice and that’s it, no other flavoring except for the mayo.

You can do so much with these products, just use your creative culinary side. And with that you will have some amazing, mouth watering dish's.

In every bite you can taste the love and care that went into making the pickles and the giardiniera's. I'm so glad I got to taste these products, you will really enjoy them. So much so you will want to make them a part of your kitchen staple.
