Stamey's Product Review

Stamey’s Salty Dill Pickles: A Southern Pickle Experience Worth Sharing

There are some foods that can completely change the way you look at a simple snack, and for me, a really good pickle is definitely one of them. I recently had the opportunity to try several products from Stamey’s Salty Dill Pickles, and I have to say, this is a company that knows how to turn simple ingredients into some seriously flavorful goodies.

From crunchy dill pickles and spicy jalapeno varieties to pickled okra, green tomatoes, candied jalapenos, and spicy quail eggs, Stamey’s has created a collection that goes far beyond the traditional pickle jar.

And if you love that combination of salty, tangy, crunchy, spicy, and savory, there is plenty here to keep your taste buds happy!

About Stamey’s Salty Dill Pickles

Stamey’s story is one of those small-business stories that I absolutely love sharing. The company says its pickles began around 2008 in a local North Carolina kitchen, where they were first shared with friends and family. Eventually, people who didn't even know the family began asking to try them, and the pickles made their way into North Carolina farmers markets. From there, the business grew after being discovered by a distributor serving the North Carolina and South Carolina region. Today, Stamey’s products are enjoyed beyond the Carolinas, including throughout the Northeast.

What really stood out to me about the company is its emphasis on a family-owned, homegrown, and local-business mindset. Stamey’s explains that Charlie Sr. and Deb oversee the canning process and have completed North Carolina certification requirements for canning. The company also works with local retirees and offers summer employment opportunities to college students.

That kind of family and community connection makes a product feel even more special.

Stamey’s currently offers quite a variety of products, including several pickle flavors, green tomatoes, pickled okra, spicy quail eggs, candied jalapenos, salsa, and more.

The Stamey’s Products I Tried

🥒 Salty Dill Pickles – No Pepper

Let's start with one of the products that really showcases what Stamey’s is all about.

The Salty Dill Pickles No Pepper have that classic pickle combination of salty and tangy with a noticeable garlic-and-dill flavor. The ingredient list includes cucumbers, vinegar, salt, chopped garlic and dill seed, along with calcium chloride.

What I enjoyed most was the crunch. A good pickle needs to have some bite to it, and these are wonderful when you want that satisfying snap.

What would I pair them with?

These would be fantastic alongside:

  • Burgers

  • Cheeseburgers

  • Fried chicken

  • Deli sandwiches

  • Tuna salad

  • Egg salad

  • Potato salad

  • BBQ

  • Pulled pork

And honestly, sometimes the best pairing is simply a cold pickle straight from the refrigerator!

🌶️ Salty Dill Pickles – Jalapeno

If you like your pickles with a little kick, the Salty Dill Pickles with Jalapeno are definitely worth trying.

These combine the familiar salty dill and garlic flavor with jalapeno peppers. The result is a pickle that starts with that delicious tangy dill flavor and then brings in a pleasant spicy bite.

The jalapeno version would be especially good for anyone who thinks regular dill pickles need just a little something extra.

What would I pair them with?

I would serve these with:

  • Tacos

  • Nachos

  • Chili

  • Pulled pork sandwiches

  • Burgers

  • Hot dogs

  • BBQ chicken

  • Mexican-inspired rice bowls

I could also see chopping these up and mixing them into potato salad or egg salad for an extra burst of flavor.

🍅 Pickled Green Tomatoes

The pickled green tomatoes were one of the products I was particularly excited about because pickled green tomatoes bring something completely different to the table.

Green tomatoes have a naturally firmer texture than ripe tomatoes, which makes them excellent candidates for pickling. You get that crisp vegetable bite combined with the tangy character you expect from a good pickle.

These are a wonderful choice when you want something a little different from cucumber pickles.

What would I pair them with?

Try them with:

  • Fried chicken

  • BBQ ribs

  • Pulled pork

  • Grilled burgers

  • Southern-style sandwiches

  • Macaroni and cheese

  • Collard greens

  • Fried foods

I especially love the idea of serving them as part of a Southern-inspired dinner plate alongside fried chicken, creamy mac and cheese, and cornbread.

🌱 Pickled Okra

Now we get to one of my favorites: Pickled Okra!

Pickled okra has such a unique texture. You get the firm vegetable bite of okra with the tangy, salty flavor of the pickling brine.

For people who have never tried pickled okra, this is one of those foods that can be a pleasant surprise. It's not just another pickle—it has its own personality.

The texture makes it wonderful for snacking, but it can also be incorporated into recipes.

What would I pair it with?

Pickled okra would be fantastic with:

  • BBQ

  • Fried chicken

  • Grilled steak

  • Burgers

  • Pulled pork

  • Southern vegetable plates

  • Cheese boards

  • Deviled eggs

And because I enjoyed the idea of using the okra in something more than just a side dish, I created a recipe specifically for it below.

🥚 Spicy Quail Eggs

The Spicy Quail Eggs are definitely one of the more unusual products in the Stamey’s lineup—and that's part of what makes them so much fun.

Quail eggs are naturally small and delicate, so they make a great bite-sized snack. Pickling adds that familiar tangy flavor, while the spice gives them an additional layer of heat.

The combination makes these perfect for people who enjoy trying something outside the ordinary.

What would I pair them with?

I would serve these alongside:

  • Charcuterie boards

  • Cheese and crackers

  • BBQ

  • Deviled eggs

  • Salads

  • Sandwiches

  • Potato salad

They would also make a fun addition to a party appetizer tray. They're small enough to grab and eat in one or two bites.

🌶️ Candied Jalapenos

If you love the combination of sweet and spicy, the candied jalapenos are going to get your attention.

Candied jalapenos are such a versatile ingredient because they can be used in both savory and sweet applications. You get the heat from the jalapeno combined with a sweet, candied flavor that helps balance the spice.

This is one of those products that I would keep in the refrigerator because there are so many ways to use it.

What would I pair them with?

Try candied jalapenos with:

  • Cream cheese and crackers

  • Burgers

  • Pulled pork

  • Grilled chicken

  • BBQ

  • Nachos

  • Tacos

  • Mac and cheese

  • Cornbread

One of my favorite ideas would be spooning them over softened cream cheese and serving them with crackers. It's simple, but that sweet-and-spicy combination makes an incredible appetizer.

🥒 Why I Think Stamey’s Stands Out

After trying these different products, what I appreciate about Stamey’s is the variety.

This isn't a company making one type of pickle and stopping there. Their lineup gives you different textures, flavors, and heat levels.

You can keep things simple with the No Pepper Salty Dill Pickles, turn up the heat with the Jalapeno Pickles, go in a completely different direction with Pickled Okra or Green Tomatoes, or experiment with Spicy Quail Eggs and Candied Jalapenos.

The company also maintains a strong connection to its North Carolina roots and family-business philosophy. Stamey’s describes its products as being centered around homegrown U.S. produce and a local-business mindset.

That story comes through in the personality of the product line.

⭐ My Momz Daily Scoops Take

I really enjoyed getting to sample this variety from Stamey’s.

My favorite thing about a company like this is that it makes me think beyond simply putting a pickle next to my sandwich. These products can actually become ingredients.

The No Pepper Salty Dill Pickles are a great classic choice for pickle lovers who want that salty, garlicky dill flavor and crunchy texture.

The Jalapeno Salty Dill Pickles add heat without losing that traditional pickle character.

The pickled green tomatoes bring a completely different vegetable experience, while the pickled okra is perfect for anyone who loves Southern-inspired flavors.

The Spicy Quail Eggs are fun, bite-sized, and definitely something different, while the Candied Jalapenos give you that wonderful sweet-meets-spicy combination that can transform everything from appetizers to burgers.

One thing is certain: Stamey’s isn't afraid of flavor.

And that's something I can definitely appreciate.

🍗 Momz Daily Scoops: Pickled Okra Chicken Sandwich

Since I love taking products like these and turning them into recipes, I decided to create something special using Stamey’s Pickled Okra.

Ingredients

For the Chicken

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • 1 cup buttermilk

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Sandwich

  • 4–6 Stamey’s Pickled Okra pieces

  • 2 brioche or hamburger buns

  • Lettuce

  • Tomato slices

  • Mayonnaise

  • 1 tablespoon of the Stamey’s pickled okra brine

Directions

1. Marinate the Chicken

Place the chicken breasts in a bowl with the buttermilk, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. If you have time, letting the chicken marinate for several hours will give it even more flavor.

2. Prepare the Coating

In another bowl, combine the flour, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and allow the excess to drip off.

Coat each chicken breast thoroughly in the seasoned flour.

3. Fry the Chicken

Heat about ½ inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Carefully place the chicken into the hot oil and cook until golden brown and cooked through, turning as needed.

The chicken should reach an internal temperature of 165°F.

Place the cooked chicken on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

4. Make the Pickled Okra Mayo

In a small bowl, combine:

  • ½ cup mayonnaise

  • 1 tablespoon Stamey’s pickled okra brine

  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped Stamey’s Pickled Okra

  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

Mix well.

5. Build Your Sandwich

Toast the buns.

Spread the pickled okra mayonnaise onto both sides.

Add lettuce and tomato, followed by the crispy chicken.

Top the chicken with several pieces of Stamey’s Pickled Okra.

Place the top bun on the sandwich and serve immediately.

The Final Bite

The crispy chicken, creamy sauce, and crunchy pickled okra make a fantastic combination. The acidity from the pickled okra helps cut through the richness of the fried chicken, while the texture gives every bite a little something extra.

For an even bigger Southern-inspired meal, serve this sandwich with coleslaw, French fries, or sweet potato fries.

Final Thoughts

Stamey’s Salty Dill Pickles is a great example of how a family-rooted company can take familiar foods and give them plenty of personality.

From their original salty dill flavors to spicy jalapenos, pickled okra, green tomatoes, quail eggs, and candied jalapenos, there is something here for both traditional pickle lovers and adventurous snackers.

If you're like me and enjoy finding new ways to add flavor and texture to everyday meals, Stamey’s products are definitely worth exploring.

Sometimes all it takes is a jar of something pickled to turn an ordinary meal into something you'll remember!
