Pork and sauerkraut is a classic German dish that is perfect for a cold winter day. It is also a very easy dish to make, and it only requires a few ingredients.
Ingredients:
1 pound pork shoulder, boneless and cut into 1-inch cubes
1 pound sauerkraut, drained
1 onion, chopped
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon caraway seeds
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
In a large skillet, brown the pork over medium heat.
Add the onion and cook until softened.
Stir in the sauerkraut, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar,
caraway seeds, and black pepper.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 1
hour, or until the pork is tender.
Serve hot with mashed potatoes or German dumplings.
Tips:
You can use any type of pork for this recipe, but pork
shoulder is a good choice because it is very tender.
If you don't have apple cider vinegar, you can use white
vinegar instead.
You can add other ingredients to this recipe, such as carrots,
potatoes, or sausage.
This dish is even better the next day!
Enjoy!
