recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie or ready made
½ cup
unsalted butter

tablespoons all-purpose flour
¼ cup
water
½ cup
white sugar
½ cup
packed brown sugar

Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and sliced
Heat
the oven to 425°F. In a saucepan, melt the butter. Make a paste using the
flour. Bring the water, white sugar, and brown sugar to a boil. Reduce the heat
to a low setting and allow it simmer.
In
your dish, place the bottom crust. Layer with apples, gently mounded. Wrap the
dish with a lattice work crust. Sprinkle the sugar and butter liquid over the
crust slowly. Pour gently so that it doesn't overflow.
In a
pre - heated oven, bake for 15 minutes. Decrease the heat to 350°F . Bake for
another 35 to 45 minutes, or until the apples are tender.
