Chicken Flautas

 


Delicious Chicken Flautas are cooked till crispy and loaded with chicken, salsa, and cheese. This simple and tasty dish will be enjoyed by the entire family.

 

 

 Ingredients

 

Original recipe yields 8 servings

Ingredient Checklist

¼ cup butter

¼ cup all-purpose flour

¼ cup minced onion

¼ cup chopped black olives

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 tablespoon oil

¼ teaspoon ground paprika

teaspoon ground black pepper

teaspoon salt

1½ cups cooked shredded chicken

8 flour tortillas

oil for frying, or as needed

toothpicks

 

In a pan over medium heat, melt the butter; whisk in the flour until smooth. Cook and toss the onion in the flour-butter mixture for 5 to 10 minutes, or until softened. Cook and whisk in the black olives, lemon juice, oil, paprika, black pepper, and salt until heated through, approximately 2 minutes. Remove skillet from heat and cover with a lid after stirring in the chicken.

 

In a big, heavy saucepan or deep-fryer, heat the oil.

 

Spread tortillas halfway with the chicken mixture. Wrap the tortilla around the filling and fasten it with a toothpick.

Working in batches, fry the rolled tortillas in the heated oil until browned, about 2 minutes. Using a slotted spoon or tongs, transfer the cooked tortillas to a paper towel-lined platter.
