Banana Cream Pie

 



 Banana cream pie is a classic dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It is made with a graham cracker crust, a creamy custard filling, and sliced bananas. The pie is then topped with whipped cream and a banana slice.

 

This recipe is easy to follow and can be made in about 30 minutes. The pie is best served chilled, so be sure to plan.

 

Ingredients

 

1 (14.75-ounce) package graham cracker crumbs

5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

1 (14-ounce) can evaporated milk

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 large egg yolks

2-3 bananas, sliced

1 cup whipped cream

1 banana slice, for garnish

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

In a medium bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs and melted butter. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch pie plate.

Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown.

Whisk together sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, flour, salt, and vanilla extract in a large bowl.

In a small bowl, whisk together egg yolks.

Gradually whisk egg yolks into the milk mixture.

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick and bubbly.

Remove from heat and cool slightly.

Pour filling into cooled pie crust.

Top with sliced bananas.

Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight.

Top with whipped cream and a banana slice.

For a thicker filling, use 4 egg yolks instead of  

If you don't have graham cracker crumbs, you can crush graham crackers in a food processor.

For a vegan pie, use vegan graham cracker crumbs and vegan butter.

You can also use frozen bananas for this recipe.
