From Texas, I got some of a companies products to try out. The
company is called, Mesquite Willie's Desert Products. The maker of mesquite
flour and seasonings and has done so since 2014
Mesquite Willie's Desert
Products are easy to find, you can check their locations on their website, or
give them a call. But do so, because you will want to have some of these great
products.
Mesquite not only adds flavor to your dish's, but also is a
great source of nutrition. It dates back over two thousand years, and was
popular with Native Americans and indigenous people. Mesquite is not only used as food, but as medicine as well.
The cutest part of these
products is the labels, that feature the adorable dogs, and their stories
related to each product. With that being said, lets get started with telling
you all I made today, with Mesquite Willie's Desert Products.
My day started with
breakfast, a nice steak and sunny side up egg, with hash on a flat tortilla.
Then not only seasoned while cooking, but a sprinkling on the top of, red Chile mesquite bean southwest seasoning. It’s a blend of
flour ground from mesquite beans and some yummy southwest seasonings. The main
ingredient in this blend, is the pure flour ground from wild harvested mesquite bean pods. These blends are a first for me, and learning about these mesquite
beans are very interesting. Mesquite
beans are bean shaped pods of the mesquite tree. And years ago this is how
mesquite flour was made, a staple for the Indigenous people. So to have these
products to use is a great honor. The flavor profile of the blend is a nice
spicy and peppery one. It's very versatile as all the products are. You can use
it on raw dish's or cooked ones, to bring the flavor profile to new heights.
The kick is really complimentary to your dish, a seasoning blend for all four
seasons.
Lunch was exciting and
tasteful as well, with a grilled chicken rice bowl, made using, Mesquite Willie's, Miss Treat's sweet and feisty mesquite
seasoning. A nice blend of sweet and heat, that adds so much to your dish. Miss Treats is a sweet
herding dog, who works with Willie's brother in law and sister, and who is
featured on the jar. The sweet factor in this blend comes from natural sugar in
the Mesquite flour and the heat comes from some coarse black
pepper, cayenne, and Chile powder. Along with other natural spices, to make the
most amazing Southwest flavors come alive in your dish's. This is another
versatile seasoning, that will make any dish you create, pop!
Dinner was really exciting,
not only making but eating. It started with making some homemade tortillas,
with Mesquite bean flour. This versatile flour can be used in
pancakes, by adding a few tablespoons into your favorite mix and letting it
rest. But I added it to some masa and did the same, rest, then created. You are
also able to use it in sauce and in roast for some added flavor. The tortillas
tasting amazing, nice earthy flavors with a little hint of nuttiness.
Next up was some grilled
pineapple and for that I seasoned them, with Mesquite Willie's green Chile seasoning. With a cute jar with a cute doggy on the
label, and some amazing spices and seasonings inside, you are in for a real
flavor treat. The New
Mexico green Chile
is what is at play here. With a combo of flavors and some heat, you are in for
a wonderful addition to your dish's. And all of this is added to the already
sweet and nutty flavor of the mesquite flour. And it's nice to know all of
these products are low sodium and gluten free, so every one can enjoy them. The
seasoning blend really added a depth of flavor to the grilled pineapple.
The main course was some
grilled pork chops, and they were seasoned with, Mesquite Willie's, bar b que rub. Mr. Tricky is the doggy on the label, and on the inside of the jar is some
divine spices and seasonings. This brown sugar based bbq rub still contains
your mesquite flour, that really makes your dish's robust. The rub on the pork
chops was tasty all the way down to the bone. It gave the chops a really
succulent taste, that was nectar to your lips. Again just like all the
products, the bbq q rub is very versatile. From pork to veggies, you can season
them all.
If your looking for some real
Southwest flavor seasonings to spice up your dish's, head over to Mesquite Willies Desert Products, and grab some. Make them a every day staple in your
kitchen.

I have used Mesquite Willie's since inception in 2014, and the proud owner of Miss Treat. The blend in her spice is a big hit in Lake George on homemade chips, and French fries right out of the Fyer. Mr. Tricky's is my go to for every batch of bacon, that we cook up on racks in the oven up here. As soon as you pull it out, sprinkle it right up, and it creates a sweet crispy coating as it cools. It's hard to deny the sweet and savory add that just a few tablespoons of flour does for breads, muffins, gravy, stews, the list is endless. We get a lot of southwest "flavorings" up here, but NOTHING that compares to Mesquite Willies real mesquite seasonings. Forget about getting Mesquite flour, or anything like it! Am I a little partial in my review? You bet I am! I am also so thankful that I have been able to use, and pass this product on to my friends here in NY. Way to go Mike!!!!
