Some
Culinary tips
Steak:
The salting of the steak will keep it very juicy. Before grilling, wipe the
steak dry with a paper towel and season it once more with salt and pepper. Use
kosher salt to produce a crispier crust!
Fluffiest
Scrambled Eggs: To keep your scrambled eggs wet, fluffed, and the ideal
consistency, season them with kosher salt towards the conclusion of the cooking
process.
Peel
Garlic: Putting the cloves in a medium bowl, then covered with another bowl to
form a dome shape. For a few minutes, aggressively shake the bowls. When you
remove the cloves from their papery shells, they should be free!
De-stem
Herbs: Holding the stalk with one hand, pull down the stem in the other
direction. Your usable leaves will simply fall off.
Grater
is Your Best Friend: A rasp grater, which is a tiny, handheld grater, can
be your best friend. You may use your rasp grater to zest a lemon, grate
garlic, shallots, cheese, nutmeg, and even chocolate!
Crispy
Bacon: Instead of using a frying pan, arrange your bacon strips equally on a
baking sheet fitted with a metal rack. Preheat the oven to 400°F and bake for
15 to 20 minutes. The sheet pan approach allows fat to drop down and heat to
circulate around the slices, resulting in crispiness.
Cornstarch:
In a small dish, mix together 1 teaspoon cornstarch and 1 teaspoon water until
smooth. To thicken a simmering sauce, stir in the cornstarch mixture. Repeat as
necessary.
Herbs
for Months: In ice cube trays, place the herbs (without the stems). Pour olive
oil or melted butter over them and place in the freezer. When you need a fast
taste boost, take out 1 or 2 cubes.
Roast
Potatoes: If you really want roasted potatoes but don't want to turn on the
oven (or don't have time), roast them in a cast iron skillet. Slice the
potatoes into smaller pieces or wedges, drizzle with oil, and roast until
crisp. Cover the skillet with a lid to speed up the roasting of the potatoes.
Extra
Coffee: Putting your cooled coffee into ice cube trays can not only save you
from wasting what you have left over, but will also help reduce watery iced
coffee and may even help provide a java kick to your morning smoothie.
Deseed
Hot Peppers: When de-seeding hot peppers, wear gloves to prevent the scorching
sensation from going into your skin. Plus, with gloves on, you're less likely
to reach up and scratch your face.
Room
Temperature: Bring any meat you wish to cook to room temperature before putting
it in the pan or the oven. Your meat will be more tender, and the overall
cooking time will be reduced.
