This wholesome cajun-spiced grilled tofu is incredibly simple to prepare. All you have to do is marinate the tofu and place it on a grill pan. The marinade that is used is made with just five simple components: olive oil, soy sauce, cajun seasoning, honey, and salt!
Ingredients
12-ounce package of House Foods extra-firm tofu
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil, plus more oil for grilling
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon cajun spice powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Drain the tofu package and wrap the tofu block in a couple of layers
of paper towels. Place the tofu between two large plates to press it. Weigh
down the plate on top with an item heavy, such as an empty cast iron skillet.
Allow the tofu to rest for 15 to 20 minutes.
Tofu should be cut into 6 slices. I usually cut the tofu block along
the long side.
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil, soy sauce, honey, cajun spice powder,
garlic powder, and salt in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Massage the marinade all
over the tofu. Allow the tofu to sit for at least 15 minutes, or cover the bowl
and refrigerate the tofu overnight.
Melt butter in a grill pan over medium-high heat. Drizzle 1–1 1/2
tablespoons olive oil over the grill pan. Place the tofu slices in the pan. Arrange
the tofu slices diagonally, along the 2 and 8 'o clock positions or the 4 and
10 'o clock positions. Grill the tofu for 2 to 3 minutes, or until grill marks
appear. Repeat with the reverse side of the tofu.
Grilled tofu goes great with grilled vegetables! To add additional
flavor, heat any remaining marinade in a saucepan and drizzle it over the
grilled tofu.
