Beer can chicken is a classic recipe that’s perfect for grilling season. Here’s a simple way to prepare it:
Ingredients:
1 whole
chicken (about 4 to 5 pounds)
2
tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
2
tablespoons of your favorite dry rub or a mix of salt, pepper, garlic powder,
and paprika
1 can of
beer (12 ounces)
Instructions:
Preheat your
grill to medium-high heat, about 375°F (190°C).
Remove any
giblets from the chicken and pat it dry with paper towels.
Rub the
chicken all over with the oil, then season it inside and out with the dry rub.
Open the
beer can and pour out about half the beer. Place the can on a solid surface and
lower the chicken onto the can so it sits upright with the can in its cavity.
Place the
chicken on the grill over indirect heat (not directly over the flames). Close
the lid and cook for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the internal
temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
Carefully
remove the chicken from the grill, let it rest for 10 minutes, then remove it
from the can and carve.
