Jewels of the Kilt Review

From Fergus, Canada, I get to try and cook with some delicious nuts. The company that gave me the opportunity to try their products is, Jewels Under The Kilt. Elisabeth Burrow is not only the founder, but the President, and Chief Roaster.

With her partner they planted one hundred and fifty nut and fruit trees, and at the same time enjoyed their families maple syrup. From there with a little tweaking, Jewels Under The Kilt was born. Roasted and flavored nuts done naturally.

The jewels are the variety of nuts, that are anything but bland. They come in a variety of fourteen delicious flavors. What was a hobby, is now a wonderful full time job, that puts the environment and sustainable living into play. Elisabeth's daughter is the heart and soul of, Jewels Under The Kilt, and she and the business continue today growing!

All the bags sent over from, Jewels Under The Kilt, are 6ozes, and filled to the top, with a variety of flavored nuts. Every bag was incorporated into today's dish's from breakfast to dessert!

First up, Jewels Under The Kilt, coffeehouse hazelnut. What a perfect nut for breakfast, and that's exactly what I used to make a breakfast coffee latte. As soon as you open the bag, it smells like a fresh pot of coffee brewing. The hazelnuts are flavored with fair trade Sumatra coffee that was roasted perfectly. The hazelnuts in every bite are rich, and very aromatic. Just the perfect nut for my latte. I didn't even need to add cinnamon, the hazelnuts already had cinnamon and nutmeg added, that gives them a touch of sweetness in every bite. Then the end note of orange. This flavor of hazelnut, is perfect for my latte, but would be great as a snack straight from the bag, or topped on some yogurt or ice cream. A very versatile product, made in Canada.

To go with my breakfast drink, I made something spicy and yummy. Chipotle pecan muffins, with Jewels Under The Kilt, chipotle flavored pecans. Not only did I top the muffins, but crushed some to go all through the muffin as well. Every bite you took, filled with mouth with these spicy gems. When you first bite in, your first taste is some sweet yummy maple syrup, that at the end a burst of some smoky heat. The Chipotle pepper is in perfect meld with the other ingredients of this flavor, and is mouthwatering. If you love sweet and heat, these pecans are a real Jewel.

I am having a blast, using these Jewels in my dish's today. And lunch continued the theme. With, Jewel Under The Kilt, apple pie pecans, I made a nice honey crisp apple salad and used the pecan for the extra flavor and crunch. And yes, these pecans really do taste like apple pie. They get their great finger licking taste from ingredients such as, Maple Syrup, Pecans, Apples, Ceylon Cinnamon. This is a first for me, pecan flavor wise, and tasting Ceylon Cinnamon. The cinnamon is rich and very extraordinary, and also has some great health benefits. But as far as my salad the, Jewel Under The Kilt apple pie pecans, were the star of the dish.

Along with my lunch salad, I made a few chicken strips that were coated with, Jewel Under The Kilt, maple moonshine pecans, crushed, but not to small. Then coated the strips and air fried them to a nice golden brown. Every bite was lip smacking good. These pecans are perfectly roasted and infused with cinnamon, chipotle, chocolate and maple. There's no added fats or sugar, just a very natural flavored pecan that held up perfectly as a coating. And yes there is a whisky ingredient as well, but it does not over power the flavor at all. It's just pure happiness in your mouth.

Now I usually do dessert after dinner, but seeing some walnuts called poached pears from Jewel Under The Kilt, I could not resist making a few poached pears and topping them with maple syrup and the walnuts. It was double the pear flavor! The walnuts are made with fresh pears, and Canadian ginger, and put on a whole walnut. These walnuts as all the nuts are very versatile, but married with a roasted pear, was a culinary dream. The possibilities for any of these nut products are endless. And all are vegan friendly, wheat free, and kosher. You can eat them as a grab and go snack, or add them to your cheese boards during the holiday's. You can even pass them on as a gift. Whatever you choose to do, they will be a hit!

Dinner was a hit as all the meals were, and it started off with a pecan strawberry salad. The crunch and additional flavor came from, Jewel Under The Kilt, original flavored pecans. Now mind you, the size of all these nuts is perfect, they aren't small or overly large, they are the perfect bite. And they compliment any dish you incorporate them with. For the original, Jewel Under The Kilt, used their pecans, with some dark maple syrup, that just heightens the flavor of the pecan. From breakfast ideas to desserts or a snack these jewels have it going on. They have a wonderful taste that just brings a party to your palate.

For the main dish for dinner, it was a pork tenderloin, that was encrusted all over with, Jewel Under The Kilt, Ceylon cinnamon walnuts. I can't begin to tell you how intense this pork loin tasted, It had flavor and crunch in every bite. The idea behind this flavor walnut, came from breakfast. You have the Ceylon cinnamon, melded with walnuts, and then when you bite into it, it is sweet, in the most perfect way. And paired as a topping for my pork loin, was the best idea I had. Every bite left your palate warm, in a amazing way.

To end a perfect day, I made some mocha caramel cupcakes and incorporated, Jewel Under The Kilt, chocolate hazelnuts in the cupcake and on top. It was a double chocolate delight in every bite. Jewel Under The Kilt, took, Mexican cacao, hazelnuts and maple syrup, and made a home run. They are so good, and made with real cacao, it’s a rich and delicious flavor profile. If you have never tasted Mexican cacao, you don't know what your missing. But if you never had it as a addition to some good hazelnuts, you really are missing out.

All the products are so good and tasty from, Jewel Under The Kilt. And there is so many other flavors they offer.
