This is a genuine
mojito recipe. I proportioned the recipe for one serving, but you can easily
double it to create a pitcher full. It's a great drink to have on hot summer
days. Tonic water can be used in place of soda water, although the flavor is
distinct and slightly bitter.
Ingredients
10 fresh mint leaves
½ lime, cut into 4
wedges
2 tablespoons white
sugar
1 cup ice cubes
1 ½ fluid ounces white rum
½ cup club soda
In a clear glass,
combine mint leaves and 1 lime wedge. Crush the mint and lime with a muddler to
release the mint oils and lime juice. Muddle in 2 additional lime wedges and
the sugar to unleash the lime juice. The combination should not be strained.
Fill the glass up to the brim with ice. Pour the rum over the ice in the glass,
then top it out with carbonated water. Stir, taste, and adjust with additional
sugar if necessary. Decorate with the last lime wedge.
