If you're like the
majority of people, you probably don't know how to prepare tofu. The good news
is that it goes with everything and is one of the healthiest dishes you can
prepare because it is high in protein. Tofu is the way to go if you're seeking
vegan dishes! Because tofu is such a flexible product, you can create the
tastiest meals when desiring Thai, Chinese, or even American food without
sacrificing flavor.
Ingredients
14 ounces extra-firm tofu, drained, pressed, and sliced into about 24 squares
3 tablespoons
low-sodium soy sauce or tamari
1 ½ tablespoon lemon juice
1 ½ teaspoon pure
maple syrup
1-2 teaspoons
sriracha
1 teaspoon garlic
powder
1 tablespoon coconut
oil
Directions
To coat the tofu,
combine it with the tamari, lemon juice, maple syrup, sriracha, and garlic
powder in a medium mixing bowl. Allow marinating for 15-20 minutes, stirring
once or twice.
In a large cast-iron pan over medium heat, melt the coconut oil. When the oil is heated, add the
tofu and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until crisp and brown. Cook,
tossing, for one minute more with any residual marinade in the pan.
Remove the tofu from
the pan and serve.
