Davidson of Dundee Candy Review

I have a great opportunity to try some citrus jelly candy, marmalade's and brittle's from a company out of Dundee Florida. The company is Davidson of Dundee, owned by Tom Davidson.

So I always like to start with the history of the companies that send me their products, so here is theirs.

Davidson of Dundee is still operated and operated by the Davidson family. Even though their varieties have evolved over the years to include marmalades, jellies, chocolates, coconut patties and other sweets, they always produce their goods the old-fashioned way-one batch at a time-the same way they have always been produced in the factory in Dundee. They use only the finest ingredients; sun-ripened fruit and juices from the groves and pure cane sugar from the Florida Everglades create the most delightful candies and marmalades! It's important to them that, your satisfaction is still expected to be 100 per cent of everything they  do.

Davidson of Dundee sent a round basket of their assorted citrus candy, and also added inside three of their marmalade's. Also in the round wicker basket is some of their pecan log roll slices, and some delicious candied cherries garnishments. The assorted citrus candies are jellies of orange, lemon, lime, and tangerine and strawberry. The marmalade's are flavors in orange, orange pineapple cherry, and honeybell. Also there are two boxes of Davidson of Dundee Citrus Delicacy candy, one box is their jellied candy in orange, lemon and key lime flavors, and the other is a assortment box that is deluxe. The deluxe box if filled with the jelly candy of orange, lemon, key lime, and pecan orangette tangerine and the pecan roll slices. Add to that two bags of their brittle, in original flavor and pecan. Oh wait, it did not stop there, they also sent two bags of their citrus candy in tangerine flavor and honeybell.

Oh boy where do you start! Well lets start with the marmalades. The first was the orange pineapple cherry, that I used for my homemade rolls. I used the marmalade for the topping after they came out of the oven. I let them cool, because I wanted to taste every bit of the marmalade. Oh this marmalade was just as you would expect coming from pure Florida ingredients, such as Florida oranges. The three fruits come together so well, and you get a taste of them all in each bite. The stunning color comes from the cherries. And just a FYI, the oranges for their products grow right on the Davidson farm. This marmalade would be great incorporated in so many recipes. From breakfast to desserts, what how ever you choose, they add great flavor.

Now for lunch I made a turkey sandwich with cream cheese and the orange marmalade on a toasted croissant. Wow! It was so amazing. Orange marmalade is produced in the old-fashioned way by Davidson of Dundee slowly cooked in copper kettles, one batch at a time, using just the finest ingredient of sun-ripened fruit and juices right from the groves and pure cane sugar from the Everglades. Tasting this you feel the care and time they put into their products. Every bite gives you the taste of oranges. The flavor is rich, tropical, and so welcoming. Tastes just like freshly squeezed oranges. Whether you choose to use it on a sandwich as I did, or as a spread, your palette will thank you!

For the Honeybell marmalade I used that for dinner. I made baked chicken with sesame and the Honeybell marmalade. It gave the chicken a nice sticky texture, and a sweet honey taste. The marmalade is sweet, tastes just like tangelo's. There is a little bit of tartness not much, mostly more citrus flavors. Paired with the chicken as a glaze it was on point.

After dinner, the family tasted the candy from Davidson of Dundee. The Jellied delicacy's we're like eating the fresh fruit. Each flavor was sweet and juicy, like you picked the fruit right from the trees and ate them. The honebybell delicacy was sweet as honey in every bite. Each candy delicacy was just as sweet, and full of flavor.
The pecan roll slices tasted like a true southern recipe. The pecans around the log slice was so delicious, a true confection, with a light divinity type center. The caramel that the pecans we're coated in was perfectly done. This truly is a handmade delight.

The peanut brittle was golden and very natural tasting. The peanuts are large and you get so many in a bite. The caramel taste will definitely please your palette, and you will want to just keep eating it. As for the pecan brittle, you can see the tiny chunks of pecans in every piece of the brittle. It was sweet, and nutty all in one bite. It's the perfect crunch, nothing over bearing to bite into. As with all their products, they are made with natural ingredients, so don't feel guilty when eating them.
