Jamaican Coffee, especially Jamaican Blue
Mountain Coffee, is one of the rarest and finest coffees in the world. Jamaican
Coffee is produced in the Jamaican Blue Mountains. The mild temperature, strong
rainfall and fertile soil in the Blue
Mountains establish perfect
conditions for coffee production.
Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee
is usually grown between 3,000 ft and 5,000 ft, with lesser quality varieties
grown below 3,000 ft.
Coffee was first brought to Jamaica in the early 1700's. Once it was discovered that the
coffee planted in Jamaica was of high quality, the coffee plantations grew
rapidly, and by 1800 over 600 Jamaican coffee plantations were in operation.
A high-quality cup of
Jamaican Coffee is moderate and smooth in acidity, with almost no bitterness
and full-bodied, tropical berry-like taste. This berry flavor is not that
subtle, but even a coffee lover with an untrained palate will know the
excellent nature of Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee.
