Pease's at Bunn Gourmet Review

I was so excited this morning, opening a box of candy from the company, Pease's at Bunn Gourmet. The company has history that is legendary, dating as far back to Abe Lincoln. What a honor they have bestowed upon me, to taste and review their candy. It is always so interesting to learn the history of a company, and this was is very interesting.

But before I get started let me give you a little history about the company.

When Jacob Bunn came to Springfield, IL, in 1840, he most definitely did not know the legend he might have made. Opening one of Springfield's first retail grocery stores in the corner of Fifth and Adams, Bunn concentrated on quality, often offering the finest items available. With Abraham Lincoln as their legal advisor and mentor, Jacob and his brother John created a prosperous business empire that had thrived. And continues to do so to present day. Many companies preceded the initial corner grocery store, including Bunn Candy Production, Illinois Watch Company, Sangamo Electronic, Bunn Capitol Food Distributors and Bunn-O-Matic. When the Bunn family was creating their legacy, Martin A. Pease, Sr. was busy starting up a premium candy business that would span five generations.

The company shifted from Bloomington to Springfield in the 1930s. Nowadays, excellent chocolate and gourmet nuts are also produced utilizing the initial recipes. Now, these two legacy labels and others are come together. BUNN Gourmet delivers the finest quality Pease's confections and nuts, locally produced USDA Prime and Preference beef from Bunn Family Quarter B Farm and a broad variety of tasty items from their partner craftsmen. The tradition of excellence continues with a history that has been genuinely local since Lincoln.

The first product in the box, was a stunning! The box had a lid that was clear, and you could see every Artisan Chocolate in the box. Then around the box was a chocolate brown bow, which made the box of chocolates ready to give as a gift. Also there was a flavor key pamphlet, that told you what each Artisan Chocolate flavor was. The box I received was called "Small Batch Artisan Chocolates". The chocolate is made in small batches, and unique and classic flavors are paired in the box. There chocolates with creamy ganache centers, soft caramels that are infused with fruits. Also covered with chocolates of dark, milk and white, are coffee and spice flavors. There is a chocolate with a stunning symphony decorated top, that is milk chocolate, and a center of milk chocolate ganache. You also get a semi sweet dark chocolate round with Madagascar vanilla bean center. Every single piece in this box is not only delicious, but stunningly decorated, not only on the tops, but as their shapes. There are square pieces, half moon pieces, and gem looking pieces. Let me say this, the chocolate pieces are so beautiful, you feel guilty eating it. You see in every Artisan Chocolate in this box, the time and the love that was used to create them.

Pease's did not stop with the gourmet Artisan Chocolates, they sent over three of their bar candies. The fist was their White Belgian Chocolate bar. It to comes in a pretty box that is 3.5oz's. and protected by a plastic wrapping. When biting into the bar, you get the texture that is smooth, creamy, and has hint of vanilla flavor. It's perfectly sweet, just so deliciously perfect. When you eat this White Chocolate Belgian bar, you will understand why Belgian chocolate is one of the finest there is. The flavors and texture are rich with a high quality of ingredients. You can see the care that went into creating this bar, and you will simply fall in love with its taste.

The next bar from Pease's is their Peruvian dark chocolate bar. A little history of this type of chocolate is, that Peruvian chocolate is made in Peru, and they are a main producer of organic cocoa beans. This bar was very delicious! In each bite, its sweet, and very creamy for a dark chocolate. A taste after eating that will not be forgotten. This chocolate as well as the other bars sent over, are not only great for eating, but wonderful in recipes. The Peruvian Dark Chocolate bar when you open it, also has a very aromatic scent, that just invites you to taste it.

The third bar from Pease's at Bunn Gourmet, was their Venezuelan Milk Chocolate. For a little history if you don't know about chocolate from Venezuela, it is one of the worlds leading cocoa producers, and are popular for their criollo beans. This bar of Venezuelan Milk Chocolate, was fantastic in flavor. There was a aroma of vanilla and caramel when you open the bar, and the taste had a bit of fruity flavor to it.

Pease's doesn't just offer fantastic chocolates, they have many other products you would enjoy, or use as a gift. Please visit them online, and try there products, you will be in for a wonderful treat.
