It's
going to be a spicy time, at our table today. From breakfast, to
lunch, and on to dinner. And it's all going to be done using the products from
"Melinda's".
Melinda's
is a company that was inspired by mothers and grandmothers. And for the Figueroa
brothers, it was just that. Growing up in New Orleans, the Figueroa brothers
were influenced by delightful aromas and tastes of Caribbean, African and
European cuisine. They were also influenced by all the exceptional people in
their lives. Their mother was a gourmet chef, and through her she established a
love for foreign cuisine.
Their
grandmas and Aunts exchanged family recipes and showed the young brothers the
value of mixing spice and flavor, and placing a lot of love in anything they
made. All those people had such a strong impact over their lives that it would
be difficult to mention only one.
Now breakfast does not always have to be eggs, pancakes, French toast, or sweet for that matter. And with the first product from Melinda's, I am making a cream cheese block spread. Then going to spread it on some sesame toasted crackers. Using the mango habanero pepper jelly, that's just what I created. I know, habanero right, well guess what it came together very well with the cream cheese. Melinda's has been pairing fresh tropical fruit and vegetables together for well over thirty years. So I decided to pair it with something different. One of my favorite foods to have as a snack, is cream cheese and preserves, so this was the first time I had it with mango habanero pepper jelly. I had some sesame crackers that I basted lightly with butter, then toasted off in the oven. And with my spread, put it on top of the warm cracker, with a nice cup of coffee. Melinda's preserves of mango habanero pepper jelly was filled with not only chunks of mangos, but habanero peppers. It’s the perfect sweet n heat jelly preserve. Yes, you do get heat from the habanero's, but it's offset by the sweet tropical mangos inside. It's a very tantalizing heat, that builds slowly, and is not overbearing. The mango habanero pepper jelly would go great on fish, in baked goods, and anything else you would like to come up with out of the box.
With the sriracha banana chips, I made a tomato tortilla wrap with a fried thin chicken breast, tomatoes, lettuce, and used Melinda's habanero honey mustard as a condiment inside. The habanero honey mustard is a pepper sauce that you can use for many different types of recipes. It's a fiery blend of habanero peppers and sweet Colombian honey. The pepper sauce was the perfect condiment for my wrap, with a very unique burst of flavor, and sweet heat. I would say if you like it very hot and you are looking for a explosion, this is the perfect condiment. Whether you use it on chicken wings, as a plain condiment, on a burger, you food is going to have the same results with good flavor and a burst of heat.
Well
it doesn't stop yet, I have dinner to go. Thankfully, there was a break in-between
meals to cool the tongue off, lol.
Dinner, included a veggie melody, and some roasted shrimp. For the veggie melody, I took and baked together, zucchini, green and red peppers, onion, and used Melinda's original habanero garlic pepper sauce as a glaze on the hot veggies, when they came out the oven. It gave a inviting shine to the dish! This is another of Melinda's fruit and vegetable based sauce with tons of garlic. The heat comes from habanero peppers. The habanero garlic pepper sauce really did give the veggie melody a wonderful robust flavor. I did not add any other ingredient, the habanero garlic peppersauce had every thing in it that I needed for taste. This is a very versatile habanero garlic pepper sauce, that can replace many spices, even salt and pepper. Use it in a marinara for a dipping sauce, sprinkle some in oil to infuse it, the ideas are endless. But one thing is for sure, your food will come alive with unique flavors.
The
main course, and the last product was incorporated with Melinda's pizza hot
sauce, a crushed red pepper sauce, and no I did not make pizza. I used it for
a dipping sauce and the dish was garlic roasted shrimp. I wanted to use the
pepper sauce for something other then what the name states "pizza". This
as well as all of Melinda's condiment sauces are globally inspired. You can use
this crushed red pepper sauce, in replacement of those dry red pepper flakes.
And the return will be the most flavorful recipe you could have made. This
sauce is a mix of cayenne peppers mashed, as well as sweet red Aji chili
peppers, and other natural ingredients, that produce a tone of spice and
flavorings. I think Melinda's pizza hot sauce crushed red pepper sauce would
also be great as a rib glaze. Again it’s a spicy, and sweet combo at the same
time, bold flavors that will enhance any thing you try it with.
