If you love peanut butter cups,
you will love this recipe. Any where throughout, you can use healthier
ingredients, for quilt free peanut butter cups.
Chocolate chips, I prefer
dark chocolate chips, but traditional chocolate chips would also be awesome as
well. Use any healthier options for your chocolate chips.
Coconut oil, the melting of
chocolate with coconut oil helps harden chocolate and makes it more like a
shell.
Peanut Butter, I love natural
peanut butter, but you can use any nut or seed butter that you like! I've
tested various flavors of peanut butter, and they're delicious with fun
flavors!
Honey or maple syrup, this
sweetens the layer of peanut butter and makes these homemade peanut butter cups
taste like the real thing. I also like the taste of them with honey, but you
can use maple syrup or agave for a vegan version.
Sea salt, this component is optional, so if your peanut
butter is not salted, I strongly suggest applying a touch of sea salt to the
peanut butter mixture or sprinkling flaked sea salt on top of the cups.
Begin by filling a muffin tin
with 10-12 paper or silicone liners.
Cover the bottom of each liner with the chocolate that you melted. Put
the tray in the freezer so that the chocolate could be set.
Make your layer of peanut
butter with peanut butter, honey and coconut oil. Pour over the chocolate and
put it in the freezer.
Ladle the remaining chocolate
over each cup, ensuring that the layer of peanut butter is fully covered.
Position in the freezer for 30 minutes to 1 hour to create a full setup and
enjoy!
