The Choke Cherry Tree Review

I was so surprised at the delightful treats I received today, from The Choke Cherry Tree. A company from Pagosa Springs, Co. Janelle Syverson, the current owner originally was employed as a temporary aid in the holiday season, for the previous owners. The company found that she was one of the best caramel wrappers they've seen for a long time.

Once Jenelle Syverson purchased The Choke Cherry Tree, she relocated it to its present spot. Conveniently situated in Talisman Plaza Shopping Center, this place is much greater than the last one. The Choke Cherry Tree maintains the history with delicious baked candies, preserves, jellies, syrups and more. Jenelle studied Bill's culinary methods on her own, then served for years preparing the goodies just as Bill had taught her. Janelle purchased the business in 2014.

Since then, The Choke Cherry Tree business, has supported her as a single mother. Her  son is already 16 years old and has just finished 2 1/4 years of high school EARLY with 3 college courses already done. Business has also helped her, to develop and help local non-profits and families through partnerships with food and culture whilst collaborating with other great ladies who love to share their work with their families.

Their History, Bill was just 14 years old when his grandma showed him to make strawberry jam-and he was addicted.  Ever since  that moment, he's made jam or jelly out of everything he might think of! He rendered all of the jams, jellies, butters and syrups.

The bags of candy samples I received we're so cute. They make wonderful funny little candy gifts to give to any one, for any occasion. On the front of the brown candy bag, is a little see thru window, where you can see the delightful candy treats. Then there is a homemade label, for each candy, with a humorous name. Also I got three of their other products, a apple butter, wild choke cherry jelly, and raspberry jam.

The first bag from The ChokeCherry Tree, that I tasted was the Wolf Creek, Deer Droppings. Like this bag the there was a cute little clipart picture of what the name of the candy was. This candy id a dollop of caramel, chocolate, and almonds. The chocolate is dark, and with each chewy bite of caramel, you taste the almonds. Very nice.

Next treat was The Choke Cherry Tree, Cat Creek, Mountain Lion Mounds. As with this bag, all the cute little decorated brown bags can be re-sealed after you open it, so your candy stays fresh. This candy in every bite was caramel, dark chocolate, walnuts, and the taste of espresso. The candy was not strong due to the espresso beans as a ingredient. Very delightful.

Tasting next is The ChokeCherry Tree, Colorado Baby Buffalo Chips. This chocolate candy is all caramel. Not to chewy, just perfect, and very tasty.

Now for the bag of  The Choke Cherry Tree, Homemade Caramel. Each bite is semi soft, not to chewy, and doesn't stick to your teeth. The balance of the ingredients are well done, they are buttery, and you taste the vanilla flavorings. Very Yummy.

Moving on to The Choke CherryTree San Juan, Bear Piles. By now you should catch on to the humor of the candy names!!! This candy is a combo of caramel, dark chocolate, walnuts, pecans and almonds. Nutty flavors, and wonderful taste with all the ingredients. Very fantastic flavor.

The treasures keep going, and its time to taste The Choke Cherry Tree, Weminuche, Moose Poop. These little candy droppings are made of caramel, dark chocolate, walnuts and pecans. Again a very flavorful nutty candy. Just a marvelous combo.

As far as the candy goes, the last bag to try is The Choke Cherry Tree, Pagosa Springs, Elk Poop. This candy is dark chocolate, caramel, and pecans. If you like nuts you will love this candy. Not hard to chew, and pure pleasure in every bite you take.

Now for the apple butter, I made some corn muffins and spread the apple butter on top of each muffin. This was a perfect compliment to the corn muffins. The taste of apples and spices in every bite you take. The apple butter was made with all natural ingredients. Fresh, pure yummyness.

For the Wild Choke Cherry Jelly, I used this in a crumb cake recipe, as the filling. The crumb cake was moist, and the jelly held up perfectly for a filling. There was a slight tart taste to the jelly from the cherries. But over all, it was very tasty, fresh, and natural tasting.

For the raspberry jam, the company sent over I made a Monte criso sandwich, with the jam as a layer. This jam on a hot sandwich was out of this world flavorful. You have the taste of the raspberry jam, with the melted cheese and lunchmeat. It was the perfect sandwich.

The fruit trio came in small jars, and in a white box, perfect to give as a gift. Any one of these products would make a wonderful treats for a friend or family member for any occasion.
