Well today's review is like no other I have ever done!
The products come from The Pickled Store, located in
Elberta Al. They are pickled products, and they will be my first go at.
The Pickled Store, is a one stop shop, that's only
focus is their love for pickled food. They are a very unique store, that loves
and cares about what their customers needs are. They have the lowest prices and
offer a they will beat the price if a product is found higher any where else.
It's their goal to be able to give their customers, the same love of pickled specialties
at great prices.
The products range are made in several different
states from South Florida , to the heart of Cajun Territory . Everyday they offer new and exciting pickled
products. Buying from The Pickled Store gives you the confidence when you
order, because they stand by all the products they sell.
Now, I am going to taste these wonderful products, it
should be very exciting!
The first jar is from Matt and Dana, and that is a jar
of Pickled American Beer Sausage. It's made with chicken and beef, and it's
spicy. Matt and Dana's products come from Amite ,
Louisiana , and are a third generation family, sharing their
recipes in their pickled products. The Pickled Shop, also has other brands,
that you can choose from to. When you open the jar, you already smell the
vinegar, and the spices, and the sausage aroma. It really invites you in to
take a bite. The taste is smoky, spicy, and the texture nice and soft, and
tasty. You can eat them cold, but also fried. The spice is kid friendly, I know
mine tried it. There is a nice amount of beer sausage in the jar to. As far as a casing, there
isn't any, and that is why there is a nice soft chew to it.
Next was a jar of Matt and Dana spicy pickled smoked
sausage. There is about seven in the jar. So with one of the pickled smoked
sausage, I gave it a shot and grilled it with some buttered onions. It turned
out fantastic, a nice pickled smoked sausage sandwich, with a little tang, and
sweetness from the buttered onions. Again the pickled sausage had no casing,
but that was a great feature about it. The spice level is hot, but nothing over bearing. I can see why everyone
loves this product, it’s a true Cajun taste. This jar of spicy pickled smoked
sausage is made with one hundred percent pork, and the juice has a ton of
flavor to it. The spicy pickled smoked sausage from Matt and Dana are great
cold or warm, and even better with a nice cold beer, or some Southern Ice Tea!
The next pickled taste test is the Stuart's Cajun Dill Mix. They come from Gautier , MS . In the jar, is a wonderful Southern mix combo of
green beans, okra, and pickles. When you taste the mix you can see why they are
a Southern delicacy. The spice level is nothing you can't handle, its very nice
blended with all the other indigents. Speaking of, right thru the jar you can
see the nice spice blend. Every veggie and the pickle as well has a nice spice
and crispy texture. A true homemade Southern taste to them. These make a
wonderful side dish to serve along a great BBQ, or some Cajun recipe you may be
cookin up. In fact that’s just what I did, taking some of the okra and green
beans and putting them into some shrimp Creole. Oh yea, made you dream of the
bayou for sure.
Now is the last jar which is a first for me, is some
pickled quail eggs from J and S Farms in Sumrall , MS . In the jar with quail eggs, is some vinegar,
jalapeno peppers, corn and other yummy spices. They definitely are some
authentic Cajun prepared quail eggs. You taste that in the first bite. The eggs
come from birds born and raised in the deep south. I have never eaten a quail
egg, but I must admit for tasting it for the first time I am glad it came this
way. The eggs themselves are mild and not over spicy, just a perfect little
kick. The eggs are not rubbery at all, and the pickling spice is very tasty.
When you first open the jar, the aroma is very pleasant, with a hint of the
jalapenos in it. The quail eggs, in the jar, taste richer then a chicken egg,
and the yolk was a little bigger. But what made them really good, was all the
pickling spices that soaked into them. The pickling gave the quail eggs a nice
ultra vibrant color to.
If you would like to know more about The Pickled Store, visit them online or Amazon. You will really enjoy some great Southern
Classics.
