They say, Firefighters are some of the greatest cooks,
but did you know they make coffee to? Well they do, and they have sent me two
bags of their, coffee, a nice mug and a tee shirt.
The Firefighters, and the coffee are from Rockford IL . A great looking crew, of dedicated firefighters,
first re-sponders, and coffee connoisseurs. The name, FDC, Fire Dept Coffee.
Every order, is freshly roasted, and comes from the
inspiration, of the role coffee plays, in their lives, keeping them alert, and
energized. The FDC coffee, was born in 2016 by founder and CEO, Luke
Schneider. Luke is a full time firefighter and a full time paramedic. Also he
is a Navy veteran. Luke, partnered with Jason Patton, who is also a firefighter
and a paramedic, and now VP of the Fire Department Coffee.
Giving back, FDC , gives ten percent of the net proceeds to help provide essential
resources and assistance to first re-sponders, who have been injured, or are
facing serious health challenges. I love companies that give back!
Waking up to the aroma of coffee is always heavenly.
And today was no different. Brewing the FDC , original medium roast coffee, made the entire house smell inviting. I
even think my neighbors could smell it. The ground coffee, when you open the
bag, sends, the most divine aromas up to your nose. This blend, from FDC , is where it started for the Fire Department Coffee. A blend of
Central and South American coffees. The flavor profile is bold, and rich. Some
of the best coffee beans grow in Central and South America , and the guys new what they were doing when they
chose these type of beans. Every sip of the coffee, you capture the full
personality of flavor. The color is bright, and profiles a medium body of clean
fresh coffee. Very seductive!
The next pot that I made was for after dinner with our
dessert. And for that I brewed a pot of FDC , Bourbon Spirit Infused Coffee, that was also a medium roast. Again
the aroma flows out as soon as you open the bag. Anything melded with good
bourbon, makes for a elegant outcome. And for the bourbon infused coffee, a
amazing infusion it was. The aroma and the taste are impeccable. You get a deep,
buttery smooth taste, and the tone of the infusion of the bourbon. The bourbon
infused coffee is a first for me, and makes a wonderful dessert coffee for
sure. There is not bitter taste what so ever, a nice profile of flavors from
the first sip to the last.
Both flavors of coffees, have a nice clean taste, and
are so enjoyable. From the stunning art work on the bags, to the brewed coffee,
FDC has it going on.
