Sozo Coffee Roasting review

It finally stopped raining, and the sun is out this morning. I am ready to start the morning with some coffee I got from Sozo coffee roasting company. The company is locate in Ionia MI. And I am so excited to taste their blends.

While the coffee is dripping let me give you a little history behind these coffee products. Rodney roasted beans for his friends and relatives in a ten year-old popcorn machine in his kitchen to get the passion brewing. Not unexpectedly, the popper quickly couldn't keep up with the fans' demands. Sozo Coffee Roasting grew from a popcorn popper to a 5-lb and eventually a 20-lb roaster that is the highlight of the roasting plant seen from a window in the cafe. Sozo is a micro-bakery coffee roasting business based in Ionia, Michigan. Each of the coffees are hand roasted in-house. The bakery utilizes raw and sustainable products as well as gluten-free products to make "handcrafted from scratch" treats. Sozo coffee beans are used in numerous coffee shops, churches and activities across Michigan.

So the first coffee from Sozo Coffee Roasting is produced by Herlindo, from San Antonio La Paz, Guatemala. Herlindo is the first in his family that grew coffee. Before he produced coffee he worked in auto parts. Soon after purchasing his 51-acre property, where chickens and cattle were born, Herlindo's wife passed.  He didn't have the privilege of children at home that could help him out. His three girls, two daughters and a son in their 40s, grew up and had their own families. Determined to keep moving, he invested himself in studying how to cultivate coffee.

This is a hard working man, and I am blessed to try his coffee.

The kitchen smells amazing, smells like a cinnamon candle burning. The coffee, is a full body coffee, that taste of cinnamon, molasses, and other earthy flavors. I didn't have to use any sugar or creamer, it was perfect black. To note this is a medium roast blend.

Now that it is lunch, I am brewing another pot, using the Orlando Olopa Guatemala coffee, that the Sozo company sent. Another medium roast blend. A little about, Orlando Lemus's home in Olopa, Guatemala. A TV stand in the living room acts as an altar of sorts where he and his family show photos of loved ones and other memorabilia that are significant to them. Among the things are a SoZo ceramic coffee mug and two cards, both signed by SoZo consumers, to say "Thank you for your wonderful coffee." Another man who takes pride in what he does, and should be proud of his product.

As the coffee drips, the house again has a wonderful inviting aroma. The scent is that of chocolate. The taste of the coffee has a bouquet of floral notes, chocolate, and even a fruity taste. It went well with the cheesecake, I had after my lunch. Again, no sugar or creamer was needed. All the taste came from the coffee.

The company Sozo makes so many different types of coffee. These coffee's are sourced from ethnical farms that span across the world. The taste are amazing, the stories even better.
