Hubs Home Cooked Peanut Review

Tonight is Friday, and it's move night. And just in time for a movie snack, peanuts arrived.

Peanuts from Hubbard PeanutCompany also known as Hubs. Located in, Sedley, Virginia, they are a family owned and operated peanut processor.  In 1954, Dot Hubbard, a young school teacher, chose to remain at home and raise her growing family. Wanting a little extra money and growing up on peanut property, she created a perfect recipe and technique for cooking Virginia peanuts. Friends and family enjoyed Dot's unique peanuts and eventually, by word of mouth, a real mail order company was born. The one aspect that the Hubbard family has never lost sight of is excellence. From bringing the best peanuts from the local harvest to maintaining order consistency and top-notch quality, the perception of each Hubs consumer is of utmost importance to the minds of each Hubs team leader. From Dot's home to your home, you get unique and quality peanuts.

So lets get started, put the movie in, grab the cans, and get tasting!

First up was the can of Hubs salted Virginia peanuts in the 12 oz resalable can. They are a larger peanut, with exceptional flavor, and the aroma hits you as soon as you open the can. What's great about these peanuts they are heart check certified, all natural, gluten free, and have no cholesterol or trans fat. So while you are eating them you can be sure they are natural, and healthy. Another great feature, when you done eating, the can has a reusable/recyclable vacuum sealed tin. The peanuts had a nice crunch, a good salt level. You can really notice the difference in these peanuts then other ones on store shelves. The size is different, and you can really notice by the taste that, they we're roasted different. One word best describes them "delicious".

Next bowl, was Hubs SweetHeat peanuts. These are a blend of natural spices, and mild sweet chili peppers. Again the peanuts we're a little larger then store brand products. Don't let the name fool you, they are not over heated, or overly sweet. The blend is perfect, and the taste of the chili's is mild. They definitely bring a party to your mouth. The difference in these peanuts, you really taste that homemade quality. You will not be able to stop a one handful, so if needed have someone control the can!

The last can of Hubs peanuts we're the "Big Reds", redskin peanuts to be exact. Another 12 oz can of Dots homemade Virginia peanuts. Now there is a difference in this type of peanut. Below the outer casing, untreated peanut kernels are covered with a pretty red skin full of nutrients. This layer is very healthy, and fully dress the peanut. The taste is extremely different, but the size is the same. The flavor is more robust with this type of peanut. The salt content was very light on these, the crunch was perfect, and the aroma contagious. You can also call these Tavern nuts, what you would find sitting at the bar.

All of these peanut products make a great snack for anytime, any place, or any occasion. Also the peanuts would be great to incorporate into recipes, like a topping for yogurt or ice cream. Whether its for you, or as a gift, you won't be disappointed.
